The Bishop of Stockport is coming to St George’s on Sunday 10 October at 9.30am to confirm people.
We had a bumper crop last year of adults and youngsters.
People have to be 11 years old at the time of confirmation and there is no upper age limit. Last year some couples were confirmed as well.
We are recruiting people who would like to think about their faith and being confirmed so that they can receive, with others, Holy Communion.
It's not too late to have a word with the clergy if you are interested in Confirmation, Preparation classes will start at the beginning of September.
This is a way of generating funds for St George’s when you shop online at various companies eg Tesco, John Lewis, Asda, Amazon and over 100 others including many favourite High Street names.
Please pick up a leaflet in church to find out how to sign up on www.TheGivingMachine.co.uk.
Please pass this information on to your friends and family too.

Worshipping one Lord
through the experience of our different traditions
As from Tuesday 3 August there will be no 1.10pm Eucharist.
We have been monitoring the attendance during the last six months and there have been many occasions when there has been only one person (from a parish in Sale) or no one attending.
There will still be a Tuesday Eucharist at 10am at St John’s and at St George’s when there is a PCC meeting there will be a 7.30pm Eucharist.
As we all know, bringing children to church isn’t easy. Yet, coming to church, becoming familiar with the building, learning more about it and about singing Christian songs and saying our prayers are all important points of learning for our children. To help with this we now hold ‘Tea and Tales’ on Tuesday afternoons in term time.
‘Tea and Tales’ is for all young children, aimed at the four to seven year olds but also to be enjoyed by those a bit younger or a bit older. It starts with a short service in church at about 3.30pm (straight after school) with songs and stories. We then go to the Parish Centre for a drink and biscuits. We will finish by about 4.15pm.
We hope mums, dads, grandparents and/ or carers will bring their children to ‘Tea and Tales’. Please tell your friends too. If you want to know more about this ask Margaret Jones.
If you have babies, toddlers or under 5s and would like an opportunity to chat, meet new people and enjoy a tea or coffee while your children play with a wide range of toys please come along on Thursday afternoons to St George's Toddlers.
We meet in the Parish Centre from 1.30 p.m. – 3.15p.m.on Thursday afternoons during term time.
All are welcome so please tell your friends too. If you want to know more ask the Revd Margaret Jones.
If you have someone you would like prayed for there is a Prayer Board near the Lady Chapel. Please add your Prayer Request. The requests are remembered at Morning and Evening Prayer on week days.
