The Month of May!
What a month May turned out to be! It began with record-breaking sunshine, and thankfully the glorious weather stayed with us.
Here at St George’s, we made the most of it – taking many of our Toddler sessions and Tea & Tales outdoors to enjoy the beautiful grounds. There were splashes of water, colourful handprints, and plenty of sunshine-fuelled smiles all round as we soaked up that much-needed Vitamin D!
It’s been such a joy to see the church bustling with life. Our choirs have been busy learning a fresh repertoire, while our ever-popular Twist & Tales (music and movement for toddlers) continues to grow. Our Youth Group is thriving too, and Junior Church now finds itself with the wonderful challenge of how best to support our older children – a great sign that we’re growing.
Our adult groups have been just as vibrant. Knit & Natter remains a hub of laughter, lively conversation and impressive crafting – Christmas projects are already being planned! The Women’s Group continues to meet regularly, and our Tuesday French Group remains a weekly highlight for many. Meanwhile, the ESOL courses we host are flourishing, all thanks to our incredible team of volunteers.
Sundays continue to be a real delight – full of worship, welcome and warm community. It’s been especially heartening to see new faces joining us and quickly becoming part of the St George’s family. Even as many begin to head off on holidays or to their caravans, our congregation remains strong and steady, with more and more people choosing to make St George’s their spiritual home.
A special highlight in May was Thy Kingdom Come – that precious time in the church year when we focus on praying for our families, friends and community. As ever, we gathered for our annual Beating the Bounds Prayer Walk, this year with the joyful addition of a brand new prayer labyrinth – a beautiful and reflective way to journey with God. Here’s to the summer: full of faith, fun & community!
