Josie is leaving to pastures new!

Well, we always knew this moment would come; but that doesn’t make it any easier to say goodbye! Josie first joined us in September 2023 as an Ordinand (a slightly fancy way of saying she was training to become a Vicar!). Since then, she’s been juggling college every Monday in Liverpool alongside supporting us on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Sundays—and often many moments in between….

All of our midweek groups have continued apace — from our new Drop-In to the toddler and youth groups, alongside our adult gatherings of knitting, nattering (in both English and French!), and sharing food together each Thursday. It is wonderful to see these groups becoming places where real and significant friendships are formed. Equally, the quieter ministry that happens in the background remains one of the great privileges of our weeks: visiting people in hospital, spending time with them at home, or simply meeting for a coffee and a chat…

Straw, Songs & Celebration: It was Harvest Time at St George’s!

October usually means one thing around here: hoovering up LOTS of straw! But my, it was worth it. We kicked things off with a brilliant Barn Dance and Harvest Supper. The Parish Centre was transformed with bunting, fairy lights, and, of course, the obligatory Harvest Bales (a big thank you to The Dunham Herd for those!). A huge thanks also to Miss Flynn and her sister for hosting such a fantastic evening. Despite it being Miss Flynn’s first ever Barn Dance (we’ll try not to feel too old…)…

And the term started again!

And start again it did! It all started with our Quiz Night (let ably by the ever-talented John G-J) with some fiendish questions washed down with some cheese and wine. As is our habit, this was then followed by Cream Teas after the Sunday Service (thank you Janet!), and off we went again!….
