Children and families at St George's Church

A Church where everyone can be involved and play their part

We are a welcoming, multi-generational church community where children and teenagers are very welcome and have an important part to play in the life of St George’s!

For some of us, pregnancy and early parenthood is everything we’ve dreamed of. For some of us, those early years are hard, isolating and more demanding than we expected, and most of us fall between the two. Here at St George’s we have a range of groups where you can be real, honest, find & give support, and make friends along the way. Come and be part of them – they are open to everyone, regardless of whether you ‘do’ church or not.

Those early years of nursery and school can be quite the juggling act! Here at St George’s there are groups for you to be part of that both allow your children to explore their faith, have fun and for you to get support and make friends along the way too.

We are delighted to have a Children’s Choir ‘Altrincham Trebles’ held in school on a Wednesday afternoon: offering free musical tuition that will last your child a lifetime!

We also offer one to one singing lessons; follow the link above to find out more.

We believe that a relationship with Christ is for everyone, regardless of our age and stage. Junior Church is for our children to explore their faith in fun and creative ways and make lots of new friends along the way!

A week can be a long time in education! So on a Friday night, our youth groups are a great space for young people to drop in at the end of the week.

With pizzas and games these are great space to make friends and let off some steam before heading into the weekend.

Get ready for an adventure! We’re so delighted to have a thriving Scouting section – and so proud of what they do! Whether it’s Beavers, Cubs or Scouts, we hope that all the young people involved have a great time as they develop fantastic friends and have many adventures along the way!

Harbour

A support group for parents of children with SEND. Fridays, 9am term time, Vicarage. Parenting can be quite a path to negotiate, even more so with children that have SEND. So, after many conversations last year, we’re going to put together an informal group where we can share experiences over a cuppa and support each other along the way.

We’re not professionals, and although we’ll invite the SENCO from Altrincham Primary School to chat now and then, it will mainly be us just listening to each other and offering lots of support and encouragement.

You don’t need to come to church on a Sunday, or have a child of a particular age – open to all.

Please do spread the word.

Home Educators

St George’s is a wonderful place to learn outside the classroom, and our Church Explorers activities are perfect for home-educating families looking for something a little different.

Explore our historic church at your own pace and discover local history, architecture, art, Christian faith and the story of Altrincham through observation, investigation and hands-on discovery.

There are opportunities to spot patterns and symbols, investigate stained glass and memorials, explore the building’s architecture and uncover the stories of the people and community connected with St George’s.

Church Explorers is completely free, suitable for primary-aged children, and home-educating families are very welcome to come individually or explore together as a group.

We are normally open Mon-Fri, 8am-3pm but times can change - if in doubt, message us via our social media & we’ll endeavour to get back to you as soon as possible.
