Sunday Services
Come and be part of St Georgeβs Church as we worship and explore our faith
A church where everyone can find a home
Our services are a place for those for whom faith is something that they have lived out for many years, and also for those who are coming to explore, ask questions, and reflect on what the Christian faith might mean for their lives.
We often refer to our Christian faith as a βjourneyβ and wherever you are on that path, do feel that this is a place that you can be at home in.
Sunday Morning Eucharist
Sundays 8.00am
St George's Church (Lady Chapel, within the main church building)
This is a quiet service without music that lasts 30 minutes.
It is held in our beautiful Lady Chapel.
If you are someone who likes simplicity and regularity amidst a friendly and small congregation, this is the perfect place for you.
There are three reasons we meet as church:
Before church, we make space to talk to God.
During the service, we allow Him to talk to us.
After the service, we talk to each other with tea/coffee and lots of biscuits!
This is a service with music lasting for 1 hour. It is friendly, relaxed and dignified, alongside the hustle and bustle that our children bring to the service who are always warmly welcomed. During this service, we look to marry old and new: we connect with the traditions of the past, centred around the Eucharist ,whilst being empowered for all that lies ahead that week.
Children are really important to us, and itβs important to us that young children feel at home in their church which we know will come with some noise and energy depending on their mood!
Each Sunday we have some fantastic provision for our children. Normally, they will join us at the start of the service and then go out with Dee and her team to enjoy their own session and let off some much needed steam! Sometimes we have a fun filled family service (for things such as Harvest) at which point they stay in, playing a full part in all thatβs going on.
For those younger, and indeed, for any children who would prefer to stay in the service there is a childrenβs area where they can explore all thatβs on offer during the service. Also, as they get older, many of our children play an active role in our services by doing things such as reading and being the acolytes (carrying the candles) which we love!β
After the service, we all gather for coffee and biscuits, and our children get well and truly spoilt!
Church is a wonderful way for children to get comfortable speaking to a wide range of people, and gives their adults some space to reflect on the week and get a hot drink too at the end of it!
Itβs important to us that children can choose to be part of the various teams that we have.
One of the easiest ways for them to be part of church life as they get older is to join the serving team, and then start reading and leading our prayers too. Reading and leading prayers is a fantastic way to get your young person confident at that lifelong skill of public speaking too β and what better way to start then a set of smiling and friendly eyes encouraging them on!
Just speak to the Vicar or Dee, our children and families lead if your child would like to explore this.
