It’s been a week full of music!

Children | Choir | St George's | Singing | music | lesson | AltrinchamOn Tuesday, we got started with our brand-new Children’s Choir – Altrincham Trebles. We had expected a handful and got 15 with some others due to come who couldn’t make it this week – we were delighted! It was such a lovely atmosphere – calm with a sense of excitement as the children started to sing together, try some scales and then ended up huddled around the piano singing Away in a Manger – there were a few tears, as it already sounded great!

Then on Thursday it was the turn of the adult choir. Russell had a long-standing break planned for next week, so he spent the time getting to know people, working out where everyone’s voices were and where they wanted to go before we kick on in earnest on his return. We’re aiming for an anthem in Autumn, followed by some atmospheric Christmas Carols. We’re particularly excited by the new arrangement of ‘The First Nowell’ – a national initiative by the Church of England to highlight the incredible work and community that church choirs bring.

St George | Church | Choir | Altrincham | Choral | EvensongThere is still time to join both choirs – if your son/daughter is in KS2 and would like to join Altrincham Trebles, do get in touch – it’s open to all local children, not just those in Altrincham School (although that is where we meet from 3.20 onwards). Likewise, if you would like to be part of the Adult Choir, then do head along on a Thursday evening – we start again on Thursday 28th September at 7.30 pm.
