Summer Mid-Week Groups: What’s on, what’s pausing?!

As summer approaches, some of our children’s groups are taking a well-earned break — but most of our adult groups are still going strong, and we’d love you to be part of them!

Our school-linked groups, Tea & Tales and Pathway, will be the first to pause, with their final sessions on 8th and 11th July, respectively.

During the week beginning 14th July, Tots & Tales will run on Tuesday as usual, but Twist and Tales (Wednesday) and Harbour will both begin their summer break.

By the week of 21st July, nearly all our children’s groups will have paused for summer, with the exception of Alty Trebles, which will continue for one last week.

But that’s not all — we’re planning some Toddler Picnics over the summer to keep families connected and enjoying time together outdoors!

And for the grown-ups: all our adult groups will continue through the summer, with the only exception being Parlez-Vous Français & the Women’s Group which will pause in August.

Everything is back up and running week beginning 8th September! Come and be part of it all.

Summer Fayre!

Sunday, 26th July, 12-3 pm

We’re excited to introduce our very first Summer Fayre – a fantastic opportunity to raise much-needed funds for the church while having plenty of fun along the way!

We’re planning to pack the afternoon with as many traditional games

and activities as we can dream up – so why not get involved? Whether you’d like to help run a stall or simply come along to enjoy the fun, we’d love your support.

Gift in a Box!

Launching June 15th 2025!

We’re very nearly ready to go! Launching on June 15^th, we’re looking to send up to 300 boxes across Europe to a community in Romania who desperately need some Christmas Cheer!

Who are they?

We are teaming up with Grassroots Trust UK who have a partnership with a church in Romania.  Although Romania is in the EU there are still many challenges. The rural areas are very poor with high

unemployment and a very low wage relative to the cost of

living. Poverty is a major problem. We regularly find families where multiple generations are living in little more than sheds where in winter it can reach -18degrees centigrade or lower.  Grassroots Trust is part of a sponsorship scheme making sure that the families can afford a school uniform, school equipment, dental and medical care, and often a birthday gift (many don’t get a birthday present).

How will it work?

You’ll let us know, either online or on a paper form, how many boxes you’d like to make up.  We’ll then allocate you a child from the ages of 1-18.  You’ll get information about their family and some details about them: what they want to do when they are older, their hobbies, favourite colours etc.  Then all you need to do is to fill a shoebox with some gifts (we have lots if you need one), wrap it and give it back to us!  We’ll give you a sheet of ideas of what to buy if you are struggling!

How much will it cost? We suggest around £20. If that is too much and you’d like to share with someone – we can do that too.

What can’t go in it?

Avoid: Anything political, second hand or war related, toothpaste, medicine, aerosol cans, knives, sharp or fragile items. Other than that, whatever you think they would enjoy!

Can we choose an age/child? We’re afraid not – it just gets far too complicated.

Do we decorate the box?

Yes please – anything Christmassy (perhaps avoiding writing if possible) but don’t seal it. We need to be able to list and check items to get them through customs!

Quiz Night!

Sunday, 6th September, 6pm, St George’s Parish Centre!

Join us for an evening of fun for all the family!

Not only will there be a family fun quiz BUT there will also be cheese and wine for the grown-ups, and juice for the children – so everyone’s catered for! Whether you’re a trivia whizz or, like the Vicar, absolutely hopeless at quiz nights, come along anyway and enjoy the fun of watching others rack their brains for the answers!

Tickets are £8 for adults, or £5 for children and you can get them from church or use the button below! 

Back to Church Sunday with Cream Tea & Garden Games!

Sunday, 7th September, 10.30am

After a summer full of holidays, adventures, and well-earned rest, September is the perfect time to come back together as a church family—and we’d love to mark the occasion with something special!

Join us on Sunday, 7th September as we celebrate Back to Church Sunday. After the service, we’ll enjoy a relaxed time together with scones, jam, and garden games—a chance to reconnect, share stories, and simply enjoy one another’s company. And of course, if you’ve not been to church for a while, this is the perfect Sunday to get back into it – we’d love to see you there.

Alpha
